WISE FAMILY, FILM PHOTOGRAPHY

FAMILY OF FOUR

This is my first session in all the years I've been photographing where I didn't take a digital camera, this was all film and I couldn't have had a nicer family to start with. It's not majorly different in the way you act with people, but the difference camera wise is that I'm mainly working with a Pentax 645n with a 105mm lens. It's amazing but it's big and also manual focus. Trying to make sure I hit focus all the time wasn't as easy as it is with the Canon 5d's but it's certainly worth the effort. Really please with the way that these images have turned out mostly shot with Kodak portra and tri-x. I've found for me and this is one of the main reasons that I love it so much that with film there is just so much more thought that goes into each shot, you can't be lazy well you can but it's going to cost.

A few words after Charlotte (aka Mum) saw the pictures for the first time.

James. James. James. James. Wow. I am crying!! I think as photographers ourselves we forget how precious images of our own families are. I take millions of us and the kids, but this. This. Is everything. Thankyou so incredibly much for giving us this opportunity but also for capturing us in this rawness. You are so talented. And the ones of Erin are just her personality to a tee. Really thankyou xx
