Shoot inspiration - try something - use a car

You know when sometimes you need to get out and shoot. But then you don’t know where to start and overwhelm kicks in? yeah.. that’s a problem for most.

Here’s an idea for you. Quite often I’ll just plan something simple with what is available but really think about what I’m going to shoot. Create a shoot where you use a car, a car can be an amazing space where the light is good and there are interesting angles. It will push you photographically but not to the point where it’s not enjoyable because you are limited to a particular space.

Things to try

• Use the reflections of the windows

• Roll the windows down and shoot half and half

• Get low and shoot the lines, so many lines on a car. Use your composition and lead the viewers eye by creating a natural depth to the image.

• Get in and change seats

It doesn’t have to be a classic car. One of the challenges could be that you hide what the car is. The great thing about shooting with a car is all the windows let in beautiful natural light and there’s so many lines and details you can shoot through to create new shapes.
